Transformer Oils

Transformer oil is a highly-refined oil made
for high and low temperature stability. Transformer oil's electrical
insulating properties are excellent. Transformer oil is used in
oil-immersed transformers, high voltage capacitors, tap changers,
fluorescent lamp ballasts, and some switches and circuit breakers.
Transformer oils' functions are to electrically insulate, suppress corona
and arcing, serve as a coolant, resist oxidation and deposit formation,
and more.

Electrical insulating oils
Shell Diala Oils A are electrical insulating fluids,
for use in electrical systems where rapid heat transmission and high
oxidation stability are required.
They are highly refined naphthenic mineral oils with natural low pour
point characteristics.
Shell Diala Oil A is intended for use where normal oxidation resistance is
required.
Applications
Shell Diala Oils A are primarily intended for use in:
- Transformers
- Circuit breakers
- Oil-filled switches
An insulator and arc extinguishing agent in switchgear and circuit breakers
X-ray equipment
Performance Features:
- Highly resistant to oxidative degradation
- Resists the formation of oxidation products that can reduce the ability of the
oil to insulate and cool electrical windings
- Rapid heat transfer properties
- An essential quality in electrical insulating systems
- Compatible with construction materials
- Compatible with all common construction materials used in electrical systems.
- Outstanding low temperature properties without the need for pour point
depressants
- Shell Diala Oils A do not contain PCB's
Performance Specifications:
Shell Diala Oil A meets the ANSI/ASTM/NEMA Type I requirements without the
addition of an oxidation inhibitor.
Health & Safety:
Shell Diala Oils A are unlikely to present any significant health or safety
hazard when properly used in the recommended application, and good standards of
industrial and personal hygiene are maintained.
For further guidance on Product Health & Safety refer to the appropriate

Storage Precautions:
The critical electrical properties of Shell Diala Oils A are easily compromised
by minute concentrations of contaminants. Typically encountered contaminants
include moisture, particulates, fibers and surfactants. It is
imperative that electrical insulating oils be kept clean and dry.
It is strongly recommended that storage containers be dedicated for electrical
service and include air-tight seals. It is further recommended that electrical
insulating oils be stored indoors in climate-controlled environments.
