Silicone Compound Nato Code Number S-736 SAE-AS8660
provides a waterproof seal for ignition systems and spark
plug connections of aircraft, marine, and automotive. SAE-AS8660
is used in in electrical assemblies, electrical wiring
systems, and terminals. SAE-AS8660 provides
chemical stability and thermal oxidation.

1. Lubricant and sealant
for rubber components, rings and gaskets.
2. When mixed with molybdenum disulfide powder, as a
lubricant for threaded connections on piping and valves to be used
with liquids and gases.
3. As a sealant to prevent galvanic
corrosion due to moisture penetration in areas of dissimilar metal
contact.4. For use under
extreme conditions of service and storage, where freezing at -54°C
(
-65°F) or exudation and deterioration at +204°C (+400°F ) is not
permissible, and wherein water insolubility and sealing properties are
essential.
5. For sealing high tension electrical connections of
aircraft and automotive engines.
6. For sealing and insulating electronic equipment,
subassemblies and components where it is essential that the material
remain in a soft state in order to allow easy disassembly or change.
7. As a sealant to protect the threads on shells from
moisture and corrosion. When used in this. manner, the silicone
compound should not come into contact with surfaces that are to be
painted. |
