Shell Clavus 68
TROUBLE FREE REFRIGERATION COMPRESSOR PERFORMANCE
PRODUCT LINE
Shell Clavus 68 has been formulated specifically for the lubrication of
refrigeration compressors and to be completely compatible with CFC and
Ammonia refrigerant gases. Shell Clavus 68 is chemically stable and will
provide excellent performance over a long period of time. It has been
formulated to be used at very low evaporator temperatures which dictate
the use of a naphthenic
rather than a paraffinic based oil.
APPLICATIONS
Shell Clavus 68 has been subjected to very special processing designed to
produce stable, wax free, oils. It will not react with CFC and Ammonia
refrigerant gases, floc at normal refrigeration temperature or oxidize at
higher temperatures. It meets or exceeds the requirements of most
compressor builders. No special precautions beyond those normally deployed
in handling high quality petroleum oils are necessary, but because of the
nature of the application in which they are used, it is important that
exposure to water vapour and any other airborne contaminants
be avoided.
PERFORMANCE BENEFITS
• Excellent Chemical Stability and Compatibility - Shell Clavus 68 can be
used in association with any of the normal refrigeration gases, e.g.,
Ammonia, Freon 12, Freon 22, etc. (Shell Clavus 68 is not recommended for
use with HFC refrigerant gases such as R-134a and R-23)
• Resistant to Deposit Formation - Compressors which are lubricated with
Shell Clavus 68 will not suffer from valve deposits and dirty parts which
can arise when oils not designed for refrigeration service are used.
• Outstanding Low Temperature Performance - Shell Clavus 68 will not
produce any wax deposits which would plug the refrigeration system and
impair its efficiency.
